In a rare turn of events at Equestriad at Camden CCI Horse Trials, two interstate riders took the top international classes, making their long journeys from Victoria and South Australia worthwhile.
Another hot day in NSW saw most of the competitors take to cross country where the overnight leader changed in the Camden Council CCI4*-S and held firm in the CCI3*-S.
South Australia’s Sarah Clark and Casallia S moved from third place overnight to take the win on a score of 45.0, ahead of Andrew Barnett riding Oscar Park Deluge (46.8) with both combinations producing the fastest time and adding 9.2 time penalties apiece. Charlie Richardson riding Remington Hill claimed third place (47.3).
In the Camden Council CCI3*-S, Samantha Cesnik held onto her overnight lead with the experienced mare Graftango, adding 5.2 time penalties to finish on 37.5. Young gun Liam Mackenzie-Smith and Sandhills Invader, who won the CCN3* here earlier this year, came home with a slightly faster time of 3.6 to take second place (38.4) and Gemma Tinney riding PHS Hilton claimed third place (40.9).
