Shane Rose - Badminton and bars

One thing that always amazes me about the Equestriad event is how they manage to run close to 700 horses over the weekend and yet the event never feels busy or rushed. It really is quite remarkable. The amount of trade stands seems to increase each year and this year saw the introduction of ‘The Swamp Bar’ – yet another innovative idea from Shane Rose and his committee.

We managed to grab a few minutes with Shane before he headed off to Badminton and it’s amazing he sounds so laid back considering that in around three hours time he was due to be on a plane!

One thing we didn’t get a chance to ask Shane about was the plans for some of the grounds at Equestriad. We heard a rumour that the area used for dressage and show jumping would soon be covered in an outdoor surface product … watch this space.

This event just keeps getting better and better and it’s no surprise that it’s known very fondly in Australian eventing circles as ‘the event run by the riders for the riders’ - and those riders do a great job!
