Nominations for Melbourne International 3 Day Event

      Amanda Ross and Dicavalli Diesel are one of the local combinations

The nominations are in for the Saddleworld Melbourne International 3 Day Event and it’s going to be a biggie

182 combinations from all around Australia are entered across the five classes with the CCI1* having the largest numbers of entries;

  • 25 - Uluru Stud CCI1* Junior
  • 74 - Off the Track CCI1*
  • 43 - Horseware Australia CCI2*
  • 28 - Pryde’s EasiFeeds CCI3*
  • 12 - IRT CIC3*

But of course it is the 3* classes that are the feature of the event, especially with it being an Olympic year – could someone make a last minute bid for hope of selection? One of the local favourites for the event, Victorian Katja Weimann has headed overseas to Luhmuhlen in Germany to contest the CCI4 there so won’t be at her home event but another popular Victorian rider, Olympian Amanda Ross will be there with the very talented young horse Dicavalli Diesel. However 27 other riders, including the 2014 winners Shane Rose and Shane Rose, will be out to do their best at one of Australia’s biggest events and put their names on this trophy

 As well as the CCI3*, 12 combinations will contest the CIC3*. Shane Rose, Stuart Tinney and Sonja Johnson will be competing their Rio hopefuls in this class, as will Olympian Megan Jones on her Andalusian cross History and Kirby Park Impress

The event will also host the ESB Young Event Horse Challenge, which will take place on Thursday 9th June after the Dubarry 1st Horse Inspection for all CCI Classes. Then the real competition commences with dressage on Thursday and Friday, cross country on Sunday and the big finale on the Queen’s Birthday holiday Monday

Who will be going home the winners this year? We’ll bring you our predictions and thoughts once the acceptances are finalised so stay tuned ............
