When Victoria went into a ‘circuit-breaker’ lockdown last Friday for five days, we could not believe our bad luck.

As we are currently based near Melbourne, this put our chances of getting to the Randwick Equine Centre Sydney Eventing Summer Classic in danger YET AGAIN! Luckily, the gods have smiled on us, Victoria has lifted all restrictions and we are ready to begin our first eventing road trip of the year – YAY!

We are of course heading to the Sydney International Equestrian Centre, home of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and home of the team that run Sydney @ SIEC events.

This year, after several false starts in 2020, the Summer Classic sees classes from EvA60 to CCN4* but also CCI2*-S and CCI3*-S classes

All phases of the EvA60 classes will run on Saturday and all phases of the EvA80 will run on Sunday while all other classes will take place across the weekend.

The Randwick Equine Centre CCN4* has over 20 entries with the usual suspects among them. For once Shane Rose doesn’t have the biggest number of horses in the class (although he does have a ‘truck full’ coming, the two top horses, Virgil and easy Turn won’t be stepping out until March) and that honour goes to Rachael Lee, who is bringing three lovely horses for this class in Amigo, Lansina and Chicobello so she will be topping and tailing each day

Shane will be riding Ultimate Velocity and Stakkino in this class, Stuart Tinney is riding Sir Pepper, Emma Mason has Warrego Marco Polo and we are really looking forward to seeing CP Issey Miyake back in competition with Emma Bishop

We’ll be keeping a close eye on all the Star classes (and hopefully can fit in lots from the other classes too!) and bringing you daily updates on the website and our social media channels so stay tuned to our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for video snippets and more

The event is also running a Teams competition for the first time which should prove great fun. We’ve put together a special offer on cross country videos for the teQ Teams competitors where each team can purchase all five videos with 15% discount and we’ll be bringing you more details on that soon …
