Last month the results came over the big showjumping fences at the Sydney Royal Horse Show but in June it was back to eventing with some more very good results!
Both Stuart and Gemma were competing at the Melbourne International 3 Day Event, with Stuart having the slightly easier task of showing off Blacklist SF in the Five Year Old Young Event Horse Challenge.
These Young Horse classes are a real test of temperament and a great opportunity to demonstrate a horse’s ability to become a future top eventer and Blacklist SF brought home second! It was a very exciting start to his career and a thrilling result for Kerry Blair and Alice Weller, who have owned so many horses with us, including Viennese. Blacklist SF is such a lovely young horse and we are all thrilled with the result.
Gemma also had a great result in the ‘real’ eventing classes, taking third place in the CCI3*-L on board Fernhill Aisling Star. Fifth after the dressage, a smooth clear cross country ride kept them in the top six and they then produced one of just double clear showjumping rounds to finish on the podium.
It's quite a preparation for long format competitions but we were blessed with not only great results but horses that pulled up superbly! The preparation to get to this level is consumed with mixed training, having true dedication to horse management - recognising what treatments you need for your horse, understanding their bodies’ needs (plus minds) and making adjustments along the way.
We couldn’t do it without great support from our sponsors - good feed from the CopRice range, well-fitting saddles and girths (able to change once their bodies become fitter) thanks to Bates Saddles, joint and mineral health with Ceva, Horseland stores for practically everything associated with horse and rider, HIDEZ ice socks and EQU SteamZ bands for recovery. Their help makes it a lot easier and Fernhill Aisling Star is just a stepping stone away from 4* now!
During the coming winter months, there are fewer events but we will be taking some of the young horses to Denman Horse Trials (27th & 28th June) and Tamworth International Eventing CCN (25th & 26th July). We also have room for short term or full time live in boarders so, if you want to come and train with us, we’d love to hear from you!
With three levels of riding instructors, NCAS Levels 1, 2 and 3 we can offer training for all levels of rider, discipline specific training, horsemanship skill development and you can even drop your kids and their horses off during the school holidays!
Stay tuned on our social media for more info and also some lovely young horses we have coming up for sale.
Happy riding!
