Tonimbuk EvA95 and 105 classes

      Georgina Birrell and Marlborough View

“Do less” said Simon Tainsh to his pupil Georgina Birrell “Less is more”. It certainly worked on the weekend for Georgina with her and the big chestnut Marlborough View winning the Archer Skincare EvA95C and starting with a cracking dressage score of 30.

Amazingly, another rider, Sarah May on Charlie Bean, also shared this excellent score to be equal first after the dressage but two rails in the show jumping for Sarah dropped her down to second place while Georgina and Marlborough View jumped a lovely clear round then added just 2.4 time penalties on cross country to win on a score of 32.40

      Bridget Duncan and Da Lyla

It was also equal scoring for the first place after dressage in the Victorian Dressage Stables EvA95A with the eventual winners Bridget Duncan and Da Lyla, who won at Geelong recently, and Craig Hudson riding Nerreman Tatiana both on 37.2.

Craig picked up quite a few time penalties on the cross country while Bridget and Da Lyla sailed around both the show jumping and cross country to finish on their dressage score ahead of Asha Warnock riding Travorton (44.50) and Lauren Hutchinson riding Hamagnificent (46). Georgina Birrell’s previous ride Regent’s Point, now piloted by his new owner Joanne Kinross, finished in fifth place

You may be tall mum but you're not as tall as me! Jessica and Barrabadeen Captain

Jessica Walsh is pretty tall but her horse Barrabadeen Captain can cope with that quite easily, being almost 18h. Jessica and Captain was another combination that led their section, the Ride With Elegance EvA95B from start to finish, adding just 1.6 time penalties on cross country to finish on a score of 44.80 ahead of Brittany Williams and Tanui Lad on 51.30

Barrabadeen Captain was brought over from Western Australia to Victoria by Jessica last year and it has been the ‘dream story’ ever since

            Rob Palm and Mr Zizou

The EvA105 sections also had some dressage stars with Adele de Kretser on Grandjany scoring 30.9 in the Pryde’s EasiFeeds EvA105B to be almost 10 penalties of the second placed rider after dressage, Lily Wickenden.

Adele had one rail in the show jumping and picked up 3.6 time penalties but her great dressage score held her in good stead to finish the winner on 38.5 ahead of Rob Palm on Nina Griffiths’ Mr Zizou who moved up from 12th after dressage with two double clear jumping rounds

      Charlotte Curwen and LP Janvier

Charlotte Curwen also led from start to finish in the Valley Horsewear EvA105A on LP Janvier while Amy Gotts-Wheeler was third overall and won the Interschool section and the Victoria Racing Off the Track award of this class on her thoroughbred Sharvalley Amazing. It was a great way to finish at this level as Amy and Sharvalley Amazing now start their international level career with a 1* start next
