It’s been quite a year

Mustang and I at Melbourne aiming for London

It has to be said that the second half of the year has been much quieter than the first six months. The first half saw a roller coaster of emotions and a roller coaster of actions.

Target Olympics:

Competition Albury - good result - hoof abscess - arghh, fixed just before Sydney CCI.

Mustang amazing performance - target in sight.

Push prod poke Mustang - happy vets.

Melbourne CNC - random event but Mustang ready to go.

Phone call - not going!

Oh dear what do I do now - keep moving.

Since July I have been enjoying some of those other things that can occur in life. With Mustang being a pro now I didn't feel he needed to go around Adelaide this year ‘just for fun’, not being a selection event. Although in hindsight there was a truck load of cash!

What a great time I had at Wallaby Hill

Mustang and I were very impressed with the show jumping Festival held at Wallaby Hill that we took part in. With the Eventers V Show jumpers competition held in a similar vein to express eventing it’s great to think you can have just as much fun and come home with more that you have spent! I think it would be great to get more of these competitions happening. They are a real crowed pleaser and Mustang felt like he was famous when he posted a cracking time on the board. We really put the firecrackers up John Twomey and Shane Rose who got their skates on and snuck ahead of us. It was a fabulous weekend and a very big well done to Alex and the WH team for putting the show on.

One of the good things about an office job in summer is air-conditioning

In this quiet time Mustang is enjoying the lifestyle of getting a bit of exercise 4-5 days a weeks while I have myself an enjoyable office job through the summer time, which comes with great perks such as an air-conditioning system. I love the feeling of learning something new and different and it definitely helps the back pocket!

For Christmas this year I think we (Tony and I) will do a 2500km road trip from Sydney to Balranald to Melbourne back to Sydney. These roads have been well travelled by many eventers for a long time! I’m looking forward to seeing the important family and friends who have been vital to my success in the past year. Hopefully I will also get to do some water skiing- my second favourite thing to do after riding Mustang and Monyana.

Hopefully I’ll get time to enjoy just what Santa is doing

Next year there are some great show jumping shows down the coast, which will start the year off with great fun and from there I will see how the eventing year takes shape.

Merry Christmas everyone,

Emma
