I am an eventing rider based in Howlong near Albury NSW.

I started riding on the farm when I was very little and begun competing in local shows and pony club events when I was about 8 on a naughty grey pony called Rocky. He had two gears – go and stop! There were many more ponies after Rocky, some good, some not so good but I always enjoyed myself and learnt different things from each one.

When I was 13 year old, Rockingham No Reason (aka Boris) was purchased for me. He was a 5 year old and stood at 17 hands competing at Prelim level in Eventing.

He was much younger, much taller and much less experienced than we were looking for but we decided to buy him because he was so quiet. Best decision ever! He has gone over and above expectations and is now competing at 3* level. Together we have won both Sydney and Melbourne 3 International Horse Trials at Junior 1* level and Sydney 2* in 2014.

We stepped up to 3* level with much success with a win at Canberra in October. Boris and I have been named as members of the 2016 National Development Squad, aiming for Rio!

As well as Boris, I have some great horses in my competition team that either belong to my family or my very supportive owners. In the next couple of years I am looking forward to campaigning our homebred “Tarcoola” horses.

My business, Teegan Ashby Equestrian offers agistment, riding, buying and selling of all different sorts of horses as well as offering private or group riding lessons in dressage, cross country and showjumping. This all keeps me very busy as well as part time study at Charles Sturt University in Albury where I am undertaking a Bachelor of Business Studies.
