Young riders star in CCI 2 Star at Adelaide

Madeline Wilson and I'm Bruce share a moment at the cool down

The CCI2* riders competing as part of the Schockemohle Sport CCI2* Australian Young Rider Championship were impressive with all of the young riders that set out on cross country (Shenae Lowings withdrew Venture Sky High before the start of cross country) jumping clear and only Kenya Wilson on Winifred Fair picked up time penalties.

Madeline Wilson had a particularly good day with both of her horses jumping clear and under time; her relatively new horse Mumbo Jumbo finished the day in fifth place (51.60) and I’m Bruce is in ninth (53.60)

Western Australia’s 19 year old Shenae Lowings also had a good day finishing in sixth place (52) on her off the track thoroughbred Ballyhoo; this pair has not been out of the top three placings in international 1* and 2* competition since Shenae took the ride in 2014 and look to be on track for a good finish in their biggest competition so far

Molly Barry and La Muso with their sponsor Eoin Thompson from TRM, also sponsors of the Saturday night Riders Party

Victoria’s Molly Barry was not only delighted with her horse La Muso at their first Adelaide start, currently in 22nd place (61.20) but also with her non-horsey brother and father who were her support team as mum was busy in Sector Control.

“They’re getting the idea and trying really hard – it’s quite a big event to have learn the ropes at!” said Molly as they were cooling down La Muso

Molly and La Muso finished well under time even though they were over time coming to the Rose Garden

“I upped the pace a bit there and we really picked up the time so I could back off a bit coming to the second last fence and we cruised home. It was very exciting riding here for the first time – I knew there would be a lot of atmosphere around the water jump but I didn’t realise that there would be so many people all the way around the course”
