WARNING!!!! ‘Sweary’ singing in the below video – do not proceed without sense of humour ......
You may remember that in 2023 Hawkstone Brewery, via its well-known promoter Jeremy Clarkson, made an offer to warm the hearts of many eventing riders – fall off at one of BEDE Events competitions and earn yourself a case of Hawkstone lager or cider. It was heart-warming in more than one way, as snow was on the ground at the time of Oasby (1) when it was announced, but it was also great fun.
Since then Jeremy, now not only famous for Clarkson’s Farm as well as Top Gear, has also moved into the world of horse-power in another way, with a racehorse called Hawkstone. But it is the latest advert for Hawkstone that has us not only having a good laugh but in awe of these amazing voices.
The ads have been ‘banned from broadcast pretty much everywhere for being a bit sweary” says Hawkstone but we also agree that ‘the fun police aren't going to stop us...’
There is also a quick video below of how it all came together behind the scenes (and, believe us, we know these things are not just thrown together!) with Hawkstone having scoured the country to find some of the most talented singing British farmers for the 34-strong The Farmers' Choir.
On another note (if you’ll pardon the pun), in case you were wondering, the song "Flower Duet" is from the opera Lakmé, composed by Léo Delibes, and is sung by Lakmé and her servant, Mallika, by the water’s edge as they bathe and collect flowers.
Sounds just like taking a ducking in a cross country water fence - anybody fancy an Eventer’s Choir?
