Interview with Lizzie Brown

In October this year a new star appeared on the eventing scene in the shape of (yet another) talented young New Zealand rider, Lizzie Brown.

Riding Henton Attorney General, bred by Henton Hanoverian Stud in New Zealand, Lizzie won the CCI3* at Boekelo in a decisive manner – second after dressage, clear jumping and only 2.4 time penalties on a cross country which foiled many more experienced combinations and only one rail down in the show jumping to finish on a score of 39.80.

After a very successful 2010/2011 season in New Zealand, Lizzie moved to the UK but not everything went to plan. Undeterred, Lizzie kept going despite difficulties and the win at Boekelo was all the sweeter for it.

We talked to 25 year old Lizzie at Puhinui International 3 Day Event where she told us how the win at Boekelo was a long and hard road but worth every moment and gives some advice for other young riders

“You will get knocked down or knocked around and it will be hard work. But you have to keep believing in yourself and get up every day to do your job, train hard and be a nice person”
