EQUESTRIAN AUSTRALIA OLYMPIC NOMINATIONS EVENTING

 

On Monday 18 June 2012, Equestrian Australia’s selection committee for the Eventing discipline identified the five athletes to be nominated to the Australian Olympic Committee for selection to the 2012 Australian Olympic Team.

 

The five athletes and their horses are:

 

Andrew Hoy Rutherglen

Andrew is a six-time Olympian (1984, 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004), triple Olympic Games gold medallist (Team Eventing - Barcelona 1992, Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000) and Olympic Games silver medallist (Individual Eventing - Sydney 2000).

 

Chris Burton Holstein Park Leilani

Chris represented Australia at the World Equestrian Games in 2010. This is his first nomination to the Australian Olympic Team. 

 

Clayton Fredericks Bendigo

Clayton is an Olympic Games silver medallist (Team Eventing - Beijing 2008).

 

Lucinda Fredericks Flying Finish

Lucinda is an Olympic Games silver medallist (Team Eventing - Beijing 2008).

 

Shane Rose Taurus

Shane is an Olympic Games silver medallist (Team Eventing - Beijing 2008).

 

Members of Equestrian Australia’s Shadow Squad – Eventing, were informed of the decision on Tuesday evening 19 June 2012. The selection process allows athletes a 48 hour period to lodge an appeal against the nominated team.

The final team selections will be advised by the Australian Olympic Committee.

Equestrian Australia, identified athletes and the Australian Olympic Committee will not be in a position to make any further comment at this time.
