William Fox-Pitt elected FEI Athlete Representative for eventing

Britain’s William Fox-Pitt is the newly elected FEI Athlete Representative for Eventing. He will join the Athletes’ Committee and also serve on the respective Technical Committee starting as of 24th  September for a period of four years.

Introduced in 2014, the Athletes’ Committee was designed to give a voice to the athletes within the FEI decision making process and ensure that they represented the interests of their community. This was therefore the second time that the athlete elections took place, and with a total of 52 athletes from 26 countries standing for election, the 2018 edition saw a 100% increase in participation in terms of candidates and a 160% increase in terms of nations compared to 2014.

William will replace Daisy Berkeley who has been the Eventing Representative since 2014

“The athletes’ viewpoint is central to the global decision making process”, FEI Secretary General Sabrina Ibáñez said. “This is a committee made up of athletes and voted for by athletes. The calibre and experience of the newly elected Athletes Committee is impressive and will ensure that the global athletes’ community has its say and actively contributes to the development of equestrian sport. I also want to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing Athletes’ Committee members for their tremendous work and support these past four years.”
