An Eventful Life is filming all competitors on cross country at

Belton International - find out more here

The early morning may have been pretty nippy at Belton Park but once the sun came up and cleared the morning mist, Belton International was blessed with another warm and sunny day for Saturday’s competition

First we caught up with a couple of winners from Friday, Willa Newton and Ibby Macpherson who have both been busy hunting during the winter, a move that has obviously reaped rewards with them winning Novice classes yesterday

Local rider Willa won the Novice Section A on Cock A Doodle Do and today moved into a very good position in the Advanced class on Chance Remark in third place after the dressage

Ibby Macpherson also won a Novice class on Friday with Ballinamurra De Valera winning the Novice Section B and she is currently in seventh place of the CCI3*-S Section M after dressage and show jumping

      Kitty King and Cristal Fontaine

Tom McEwen on Dreamaway leads this class heading into tomorrow’s cross country while the other two other sections of the CCI3*-S completed today. Kitty King and Cristal Fontaine won the CCI3*-S Section I on their dressage score of 30.10 ahead of Joern Warner on Vicco Pop and Tim Price riding Falco IV. Bubby Upton and Eros DHI took fourth place But Bubby claimed the CCI3*-S Section H on Cola III

Tom McEwen won the Open Intermediate on Ros Canter’s No Excuse, starting with a very good dressage score of 24.1 and adding just 4.4 time penalties on cross country for the win, making Ros very happy on the sidelines!

      Ros Canter and Allstar B

Ros did ride today but it was only in the dressage arena where she presented two short demonstrations on her World Equestrian Games gold medal winner, Allstar B. We had a chat with Ros afterwards and will bring you the full interview and video from her demonstration soon

The Open Intermediate U21 also completed today and was won by Heidi Coy on Carrigsean Tigerseye

      Laura Collett and Mr Bass

There are still a handful of competitors to complete their dressage phase tomorrow morning in the Lycetts Grantham Cup CCI4*-S but it is still Izzy Taylor on Monkeying Around that holds the lead on a score of 26.20. Pippa Funnell on Billy Walk On (27.60) and Harry Meade on Away Cruising (27.90) have squeezed Laura Collett on London 52 down to fourth place and Laura also holds sixth place on Mr Bass (29.90) as well as leading the Advanced on Dacapo

Bill Levett had better luck in the spooky arena today with Shannondale Titan producing a lovely test for fifth place on a score of 29.60

Another Australian competes in this class in the morning – Isabel English riding her Badminton-bound Feldale Mouse – and the final rider will be Oliver Townend on Ballaghmor Class who could very well upset the apple cart at the last moment
