Although Nicola Wilson admits that this sport is a real roller coaster, her roller coaster is certainly heading in the right direction at the moment.

In the past few weeks Nicola has been racking up the wins at various levels. Two of her top horses Bulana and Yacabo BK won an Advanced class each at Weston Park while youngsters Hawk Eye and Mattie Clover won at Novice and BE100 levels the day before at Breckenbrough and Nicola then followed it up with another successful weekend at the Barefoot Retreats Burnham Market International

Nicola and Bulana, who is drawn 20th at Badminton this year, performed the dressage and show jumping phases at Burnham Market but then withdrew from cross country so it was the turn of All We Need and Chiraz III to take home the ribbons

“He’s a really cute little horse who found eventing rather difficult in his early life” says Nicola of the  eight year old German bred All We Need won the Open Intermediate Section N, starting with a dressage score of 26.6 and adding just 3.2 time penalties on cross country while the striking young grey Chiraz III, winner of the Novice Section I, is a real character

“Last year he was very inattentive and would be able to tell you exactly what the fences judges were eating, what were in their sandwiches and if they had a hot or cold drink!”

Nicola tells us about her few days at Burnham Market and how hunting has helped Chiraz learn about his ‘job’
