Oliver Townend’s Ballaghmor Class and Alex Bragg’s Zagreb have proved themselves to be the top horses on the British Eventing points table in 2019

The two horses share the top spot in the 2019 BE Top Horses league, which is decided by points won at Novice level and above, with 423 points apiece ahead of Piggy French’s Vanir Kamira

Zagreb, owned by Mr and Mrs Ellicott, is a 15-year-old Dutch-bred KWPN registered gelding by Perion out of Renera by Nagano.

At nearly 18hh and described as ‘a gentle giant’, he has been brought through the grades by Alex since a five-year-old and in 2019 they claimed third place at Luhmuhlen 5* and fourth at Les Etoiles de Pau, along with many good performances at 3* and 4* level, including the CCI3* at the last ever Gatcombe International at the home of The Princess Royal

“To win the last class at the last Gatcombe is pretty cool, and I’ve done it with my faithful partner in crime, Zagreb” said Alex

Ballaghmor Class, owned by Karyn Shuter, Angela Hislop and Val Ryan and ridden by Oliver Townend, had yet another fantastic season, placing in the top three at every event he completed including taking second place at Badminton Horse Trials and third place at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials.

Vanir Kamira, ridden by Piggy French and owned by Trevor Dickens, takes third place in the BE Top Horse league 2019 on 368 points. The 14-year-old mare started off the season on fantastic form, taking the coveted title at Badminton Horse Trials, and finished the season with second place at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials.
