Parklane Hawk out of Badminton

William and Parklane Hawk - third at Badminton in 2013

William Fox-Pitt, the 2015 Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials champion, has withdrawn Parklane Hawk from this year’s event

William returned to competition on Parklane Hawk earlier this month with a steady run at Burnham Market following his accident at Le Lion d’Angers in 2015 and has been competing regularly since then.

“After the disappointment of our performance at Weston Park I have decided that we have run out of time for Badminton” said William “It is obviously a shame not to be heading back, but you have to have the right preparation for a competition like this. Parklane Hawk has got the whole autumn to look forward to”

“I am competing this weekend at Bicton, and my next big target is the first leg of Event Rider Masters at the Dodson & Horrell Chatsworth Horse Trials”

Another top British rider has also withdrawn with Pippa Funnell withdrawing Redesigned although she will still be riding Billy Beware and Second Supreme

New Zealand has also had several withdrawals with Tim Price withdrawing Wesko today, Andrew Nicholson withdrawing Avebury and Jock Paget announcing last week that he will be retiring Clifton Promise at the event
