Bubby Upton has had an exciting start to the year with two new horses joining her team

22-year-old Bubby, who has won multiple medals at Junior and Young Rider level, has had some wonderful horses during her short career, including Eros DHI, Junior Individual gold medal winner at the Europeans in 2017 and the 2019 European Championships Young Rider team gold medal winner, Cola III, who also finished 12th with Bubby at their CCI5* debut at Les Etoiles de Pau 2021

In 2022 Bubby will be adding Jefferson 18 and Clever Louis, owned by Dr Geoffrey Guy and Mrs Kate Guy of Chedington Equestrian and previously ridden by Australia’s superstar eventing rider who is now also turning his hand to show jumping, Chris Burton.

The 11-year-old German bred Jefferson 18 showed his promise when he took second place in the CCI2*-S at Chatsworth and fourth at Saumur in 2019 but last competed in May 2021

The 12-year-old Holsteiner Clever Louis also showed great potential, winning the CCI4* 8/9 Year Old Championship at Blenheim International in 2019 at his first event with Chris, having previously been competed by Germany’s Ben Leuwer. Like Jefferson 18, he also last competed in mid-2021, at the Bicton CCI4* in June

“I’m absolutely loving getting to know these special boys and simply cannot thank Dr Geoffrey and Kate Guy and Chris Burton enough for their belief in me” says Bubby on her social media

Bubby has also taken over the ride on another horse previously competed by an Australian rider, Billy Liffy, owned by Lord Rothermere and previously campaigned by Sam Griffiths
