It was a case of saving the best for last at Lincolnshire Horse Trials on Sunday with the third day seeing some of the best international eventing riders compete in the Intermediate classes
Oliver Townend showed he was on form at the first event of the season, taking both Open Intermediate classes at Poplar Park, and he did it again here at Lincolnshire
Oliver won the Open Intermediate Section P on Swallow Springs and Section Q on Ballaghmor Class, but Izzy Taylor and Laura Collett were hot on his heels in both classes. Izzy took second place in Monkeying Around, with the only double clear cross country in Section Q, and on Happy Days in Section P while Laura claimed third place in both classes on Dacapo and London 52.
I think you can safely say that these three are fully prepared for the season ahead.

The Open Intermediate Section R was claimed by Ben Way riding the nine-year-old Gun Law, overtaking both Sarah Bullimore riding Corouet and Tom McEwen on CHF Cooliser who had equal dressage scores of 23.4 (although the top dressage score of 21.4 went to Ros Canter riding Izilot DHI, with a fast round on cross country for the top spot.
Kitty King and Vendredi Biats won the Advanced Intermediate at their first outing of the season, starting with a dressage score of 28.5 and adding just 6.8 time penalties to that to take the win on 35.3 ahead of Tom Jackson riding Farndon (37.5) and Ros Canter on Lordships Graffalo (39.50)
The two Intermediate sections were won by Heidi Coy riding Clonshire On Trend and Emily Philp riding BGS Lux Electric
