Philippa Hendry and Flyer des Coupeaux have won the Taylor Made Financial Management and Event Horse Owners Association Veterans’ League for the second year running.
The Taylor Made Financial Management and Event Horse Owners Association Veterans’ League 2025 went right down to the wire, with the closest finish yet at the top of the table and the placings only decided on the very last weekend of the season.
The Veterans League, open to British Eventing members aged 45 and over, had its most competitive season to date with the highest number of entrants, some 58 riders registered this season.
Going into the final weekend, Philippa Hendry’s first place was unassailable, but the race for second place was decided on a count-back with Deborah Burrell and Imperial Tangle just moving ahead of Dinah Smith and JJ Culmore. Philippa also won the over 60’s prize, another accolade for the 'Getting Older Eventing Rider' who shared some of her top tips for GOERs with us earlier this year.
“I am thrilled to have won the EHOA Veteran League for the second-year running” said Philippa “It is great to have something to aim for as an older rider - it can be quite hard to motivate yourself when your hands are stiff and your nose and eyes are streaming because of the cold!
I am so lucky with my horse, Flyer des Coupeaux as he is so consistent, but it has been a bit of a battle to get him there. It took me three years to get him confident with water and he had to have a tie-forward operation when he was six due to being born with a cleft palate. But we now have the most amazing partnership, and I am sure that he reads my mind - I absolutely love him to bits! "
Phillippa, Deborah and Dinah will receive their awards at the EHOA Annual Awards Ceremony at Badminton Horse Trials in May.
