British Eventing Top Rider 2020 - Piggy March

It may have been a very strange year, but it was still a good one for Piggy March who started the British season strongly with four wins at Oasby (1) and she finished it the same way with a win in the Young Horse Championship at Osberton International

Despite a hiatus during lockdown when Piggy told us that “The plan is not to plan” there were many other wins and placings during the year resulting in Piggy taking the title of British Eventing Top Rider, for the second year in a row

Piggy totalled 808 BE Points this season to take the league on a huge points advantage over the rest of the field, with Izzy Taylor in second place on 574 points and Tom McEwen third on 518.

This season Piggy produced an incredible 27 wins and a further 46 top ten placings as well as second place at Les Etoiles de Pau CCI5*

Second placed Izzy Taylor finished on a total of 574 BE Points. This season, Izzy claimed 11 wins including the CCI3*-L at Osberton At Thoresby International (2) and Young Horse Championships riding Camilla Behrens’ Hartacker (watch their XC video here)

Tom McEwen ends 2020 in third place and matches his position in the Top Rider League from 2019. Tom’s fifth place finish, and another top result at Pau CCI5*, on Fred and Penny Barker, Jane Inns and Alison McEwen’s Toledo de Kerser helped Tom to a total of 518 BE points this season.

The 11-year-old gelding secured some impressive results this season and only finished outside of the top five once in all nine of his 2020 runs. Highlights included a second place in both of the CCI4*-S classes at Childeric Saddles Little Downham International (3) and Burgham International, along with ending the year on a brilliant second place at Pau CCI5*.

Keith Scott, Karen Bartlett and Laura Collett’s London 52 is the 2020 runner up in the Top Horse League. The points won from their amazing win at the only 5* event of 2020  at Les Etoiles de Pau in France and win at the Childeric Saddles Little Downham CCI4*-S helped them to a total of 253 points.

Joint winner of the league in 2020, Zagreb ends this year inside the top three on 205 BE points. Ridden by Alexander Bragg and owned by Mr and Mrs Ellicott, the experienced campaigner took a win at the CCI3*-L in Lignières, France and fourth place at Pau CCI5*.
