The two Intermediate classes were awash with medals as Olympic gold and silver medallist Tom McEwen and Europeans gold and bronze medallist Sarah Bullimore took the two Intermediate classes at Oasby (2)

It was also a very good event for Heidi Coy, who leads the British Eventing Goldman Cup U21 League by a country mile and won the Open Intermediate U21 here, but the top class went to one who is between the Young Rider and Olympic medallist stages – Emily King

Emily and the eight-year-old aptly named gelding Imposant, who stands 17hh, won the class on their dressage score of 28.4, adding to their many wins throughout the year including that of the CCI2*-L at Houghton International and the Intermediate at Richmond (2) recently. They finished just ahead of Piggy March riding the experienced horse Graf Liberty, previously competed by Chris Burton, on 29.1

Our full report to come and lots more videos coming up so stay tuned ….

Where has the year gone? And what a strange year!

We started it in the UK at Oasby Elite, an invitation-only event designed to get the elite combinations from various countries based in the UK out competing after Covid hold-ups, quickly followed by the traditional Oasby (1) and now we end our cross country video events, as we normally do, at Oasby (2).

It is no mistake that Oasby tops and tails the season with its fabulously draining terrain offering end of season runs for combinations competing from BE90 level up to Open Intermediate

The Intermediate classes run on Saturday, along with Novice sections while Sunday sees the BE90 and BE100 riders on course

The Open Intermediate is a popular warm-up class for those heading to the 5* at Les Etoiles de Pau and New Zealand’s Maddy Crowe (Waitangi Pinterest), France’s Arthur Duffort (Toronto D'Aurois) and Britain’s Simon Grieve (Mr Fahrenheit) are those on both the Pau and Oasby start lists.

Keep an eye out for Piggy March riding Graf Liberty – previously ridden by Chris Burton – in this class too; they had their first run together in the OI at Cornbury, starting on an excellent dressage score of 21.1 then having a steady run around cross country and took a couple of rails in the show jumping but definitely ‘ones to watch’

Piggy also has the gorgeous ex-racehorse Our Old Fella in the Intermediate and there are plenty of big names in these classes such as Ros Canter, Bill Levett, Tom McEwen and Emilie Chandler and plenty of up and coming stars in the OIU21

We'll have some great footage coming up next week and don't forget to stay tuned to our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for video snippets and more ... !
