Osberton (2) International Horse Trials cross country videos
Kitty King riding DSH Mr D moved into the lead of the Rathbones CCI3*-L at Aspen Cooling Osberton (2) International Horse Trials on a stormy Friday, moving Thursday’s leader, New Zealand’s Ginny Thomasen riding Katchafire into second place.
A new ride for Kitty this year, the eight-year-old Irish bred DSH Mr D produced and previously ridden by Caroline Harris, produced a score of 24.0 to move ahead of yesterday’s top three, who all moved down one place.
Sarah Bullimore and Tom McEwen now both two horses in the top six with Sarah’s Corouet in fourth (26.8) and Nakota in equal sixth (27.9) with Tom’s Maestro while Tom also has Shannondale Arnold in fifth (27). Australia’s Bill Levett and Sammi Birch both have rides in this big class with Sammi’s Parkfield Artie Blou in 58th and Bill riding Call To Arms in 67th.
Sammi Birch is much higher up the placings in the Arena Saddles CCI2*-L with last year’s 2* winner, Parkfield Pumpking now sitting at the very top of the leaderboard with a score of 25.6.
Sammi and Parkfield Pumpkin moved ahead of Thursday’s leaders, Oliver Townend riding Thunder Bird Z (26.0) and Emily King moved into the top three with HG Woods (26.7) so Sammi will have to get a wiggle on in Saturday’s cross country. Sammi also has Hamilton Cooley, now in 15th place and MBF Quidams Touch in 46th.
The Project Pony CCI2*-Pony got underway on Friday with Sweden’s Freya Von Moltke riding Grantstown True Loves leading on 25.8, as did the Agria Amateur BE105, led by Margo Sly riding Gorsehill Alamo.
It is also a tight contest in the Agria CCI1* with just 2.1 penalties between the top six after dressage. Olivia Ross riding Madame Revolution TCE moved in the lead on Friday on a score of 28.0 and Eliza Bell riding Diarado’s Hit W into second place (29.1), relegating overnight leader Elizabeth Barratt in third (29.50) and the British Champion, Katie Magee riding Newton dangerously close in fourth (29.6).
