The second day of competition at Kingston Maurwood College Horse Trials saw its first ever Novice winners.

Following on from Saturday’s BE80 and BE90 classes, Sunday saw two more BE90 sections taken by Eliza Langman-Rouse riding Doctor Pepper and Sydney Kedge riding the as-yet “Unamed’.

The four BE100 sections saw two Australian combinations in the placings with Sarah Clark (the UK-Based one – not the one competing at Denman Horse Trials in NSW this weekend!), fresh from her recent first completion at Bramham 4*-L on Casallia S, taking second place on her new ride, the fiver-year-old Legacy JH S in the BE100 Section G behind Caroline Wilkinson riding Friarshill Charles.

This class also saw our very own scribe Anna Bruce enjoying a run around her local event on board Polystar I (if that name rings a bell, yes, it is Chris Burton’s past star, now enjoying life at a more leisurely pace!) for seventh place.

But it was the two Novice classes that were the highlight, as brand-new additions to the Kingston Maurward schedule this year. Zoe Boyles riding Sam had the honour of being the inaugural winner of the Open Novice Section L while Charlie Perrott riding Clophook Joker took the Novice Section K. More from across the classes and both days at Kingston Maurward College coming up soon in our full wrap up with the personal experience added in by Anna!
