Quirindi Eventing CCI Cross Country Videos
Andrew Barnett made it back-to-back wins at Quirindi on Sunday, finishing the three days of competition on top of the Boonoona Design CCI4*-S riding Chasing Great.
Andrew won the CCN4*-S at Quirindi in April on board his long-time equine partner Oscar Park Deluge but Chasing Great is a more recent addition to the stable, having previously been ridden by Shenae Lowings and Monica Spencer.
Andrew and the off the track thoroughbred started in second place after dressage on Friday but moved into the top spot after a quick round on Saturday’s cross country then secured the win on Sunday with a double clear showjumping round. They finished on a score of 41.30, more than 10 penalties ahead of Emma Mason and KPH Kingfisher, the popular big horse that has been on consistently good form and recent recipient of the Equestrian NSW Horse of the Year Award, also earning his owner Alexandra Fisher the Owner of the Year Award.
Oliver Barrett riding Sandhills Gem rounded out the top three, who all jumped double clear on the final day.
Stuart Tinney took first and third places in the Bundella Station CCI3*-S with Caruso taking the top spot and Fernhill Aisling Star in third with Charlie Richardson sandwiched between the two stable mates on board Remington Hill. Charlie had a very good day at the office, also winning Quirindi Plumbing CCN1*-L and Marsh Carney Saddlery EvA80-L-B.
Junior rider Liam Mackenzie-Smith also had a day he will remember, taking his first International win in the Quirindi Plumbing CCI2*-L. Liam and Sandhills Invader moved up from fourth place after dressage and added just 0.8 time penalties in today’s showjumping to claim the win on a score of 35.90, beating the very experienced Blair Richardson riding VH Victor (40.80) and Tyler Kelly riding Cascavall in third (41.0).
