The KBIS Young Horse Classes get underway at Shelford Manor (1) in Nottinghamshire this weekend where competitors at BE80, BE90, BE90op, BE100 BE100u18, BE100op levels will be competing on Sunday and Monday, followed by Unaffiliated classes on Tuesday

Organised by BEDE Events the official event at Shelford Manor on 29th and 30th May also hosts the opening qualifier of the five year old series for combinations hoping to secure their place at the 2016 KBIS Young Horse Championships taking place at Osberton International Horse Trials from 29th September to 2nd October.

Run at BE100 level, 20 fixtures across the country provide five year old horses with their opportunity to qualify with the BE90 level four year old qualifying series starting at Great Witchingham International on the 1st – 3rd July.

Reigning four year old Champion Piggy French on the benefits of KBIS Young Horse series; “Both the 4 year old qualifiers and Championships provide a lovely target for young horses, the Championship gives an opportunity for them to compete at a more atmospheric event which is useful practice for them as they progress up the grades.

“Nini [Piggy’s sister] is riding AKD Corline this season, he has already qualified for the Burghley Young Event Horse Final and will definitely be aiming to qualify for the KBIS Young Horse Championship as well at Osberton International to try to retain his crown!”

Thirty one combinations come forward to contest the first five year old class this weekend including Piggy’s 4 year old winner Belinda & David Keir’s AKD Corline, who will be ridden by sister Nini French as Piggy is expecting her first baby with partner Tom later this year.

For qualified horses the KBIS Young Horse Championships will showcase some of the most exciting up and coming event horses with National Championships for 4 and 5 year olds and CCI1* and CCI2* classes for the 6 and 7 year old horses respectively.
