Northumberland is a hot bed of eventing in the north of England with Alnwick Ford Equestrian hosting two events each year, Burgham International Horse Trials a feature CCI4* event in July and Belsay Castle hosting two International events in 2025.

Entries are now open for the first of Alnwick Ford’s competitions for 2025, Alnwick Ford International Horse Trials from 18th – 22nd June. The event hosts three FEI classes at CCI3*-S, CCI2*-S and CCI1*-S levels plus British Eventing BE80, BE90 and BE100 (including Open U18 sections), Novice, Intermediate and GO BE 80, 90 and 100.

Adding to the packed agenda are Pony Club Area classes at 90, 100 and 110cm on Saturday followed by PC Area 80 and PC Championship Cup on Sunday.

The cross country courses designed by David Evans will have ‘subtle differences between the BE Intermediate/Novice tracks and the FEI CCI 3*-S/CCI 2*-S tracks and the CCI 1* track will be a good introduction to the International level’ say the organisers, and “The start will be on other side of the valley with the cross country going out onto the extended loop to improve the flow to the early part of the course”

The CCI3*-S and 2*-S dressage will take place in the Main Arena on Thursday 19th followed by jumping and cross country on Friday and the event will be the second leg of the Northumberland Challenge 2025 series. The Challenge, which covers CCI3*-S, CCI2*-S and BE100 competitions, and also runs at Belsay International and Burgham International Horse Trials, offers combinations at all three venues the opportunity to win cash bonuses of up to £25,000 (CCI3*-S), £20,000 (CCI2*-S) and £6,000 (BE100), if they are victorious at all three venues.

But remember – you have to be in it to win it! So, get your entries in now for Alnwick Ford International and we’ll see you there, filming all competitors on cross country
