Madison Tapner, daughter of Australian eventing rider Paul Tapner, is getting the familiar Tapner bright red cross country colours noticed once again.
18-year-old Madison, who rides for Britain, and Be Sunshine took the Novice Section P on Saturday at Larkhill against stiff competition, finishing on her dressage score of 29.5 ahead of some big names such as Hector Payne, Laura Collett, Caroline Harris and Padraig McCarthy.
The win at Larkhill added to her recent win in the Open Intermediate Under 21 riding Rathlee Candy Clover at Barbury Horse Trials, earning her valuable points for the EHOA Plum Rowland U21 League.
Jack Pinkney riding HH Isla De La Chappelle won the Novice Section O while Charlotte Franck-Steier riding Silver Skywalker took the Open Novice Under 18 class.
Hector Payne didn’t go home empty handed, as well as finishing second to Madison in the Novice Section P, he also won the BE100 Section I, Toby Pigott took the BE100 Section J riding Holmoak Kina, Imogen Gloag claimed the BE100 Open Section K on board Templar Esprit and the BE100 Under 18 went to Emily Shaxson riding Fernhill Beleza.
Alice Fraser, riding the 15-year-old pony Bookhamlodge Pennylane, claimed the Pony Trial Section at their first Novice event
“I was quite nervous as it was my first Novice” said Alice “But Bookhamlodge Pennylane gave me a great feel across all three phases and flew around the cross country! Our plan is to go to Osberton then Belsay and see how we go. Thanks so much to everyone at Larkhill for putting on such a great event.”
The final day at Larkhill sees more BE100 and BE90 classes, including GO BE and a BE90 Under 18 class – check on back for a quick update and full wrap up next week. Read our Friday report here
