It is another scorcher of a BEDE Event with Solihull (1) Horse Trials in the West Midlands following on from a very hot week at Osberton (1). Luckily the grass cover at the Solihull Riding Club is excellent and lots of work has been put into watering and aggrevating the grounds in the lead up and the continued watering, with tanks of water coming into the event each evening, is ensuring the best possible going in the unseasonal heatwave!
Eight sections competed on Saturday 30th May, with four sections of BE100 and four of Novice packed full of pros on their up and coming horses plus amateur riders. One of the amateur riders is Ben Murray, who took the Open Novice Section riding his 16-year-old gelding Cosgrove, which may have slightly irked his professional rider sister, Imogen King! Imogen started ahead of her brother on her two horses, Monbeg Heartbeat and Camaro, but Ben took the prize with a clear and the fastest cross country time on board his long-term equine partner. Another win for the Murray family to celebrate!
Andrew James riding Kilcannon Phoenix and Charlotte Parry-Ashcroft riding Cover Star CW took the Novice sections and Phoebe Woods riding Strong Prospect claimed the Open Novice U18.
Holly Jessett and Lombard Lad have been on a roll in recent months, following up their win of the BE90 Grassroots Championship at Badminton with a BE100 win at Osberton (1) and now Solihull (1) in the Section B while Sara Paul riding Zabina took the Section A, Samantha Cadawaller won the BE100 Section C on The King of Leon and Ibble Watson riding GFS Moonlight Echo won the Open Novice Section D.
