2021 Kentucky Three Day Event Update

“Our goal is to run the Kentucky Three-Day Event and the Kentucky Invitational Grand Prix in April 2021 … with a carefully managed level of spectatorssays Equestrian Events, Inc. Executive Director, Lee Carter.

We know there are challenges ahead and we know things must be different in 2021, but we are working towards accomplishing this goal.”

The organisers of the Kentucky International Three-Day Event, scheduled to take place from April 22nd – 25th 2021, are hopeful of running the first CCI5*-L of seven 5* events planned for 2021 but recognise that there will be challenges ahead.

EEI, the organisers of the event held at Kentucky Horse Park, have introduced a new monthly update - Letters from Lee – saying that “specially in the time of COVID-19, transparent and proactive communication is key for the health, logistics, and success of the #BestWeekendAllYear”

In 2020 only one CCI5*-L took place at Les Etoiles de Pau in France in October when riders around the world were keenly hoping that some level of normalcy will return to the eventing season in 2021. However, recent surges in Covid-19 in countries such as the UK, Europe, USA and Japan have raised concerns over the start of the 2021 season and the ability to prepare for major competitions.

But, as Lee Carter points out, resilience is the key and let’s hope that his February update has more good news
