Olympic equestrian team selections were finalised with the FEI on 5th July and, although we are still waiting for the final full list to be published, we do already know many of the big names already announced by several countries such as Australia, Britain, New Zealand, Germany, USA, Ireland, France, Sweden, Brazil and Italy

But one of the most high-profile teams will of course be from the host nation of Japan. Their team finished just off the podium at the World Equestrian Games in Tryon in 2018 in fourth place and also finished third in the FEI Nations Cup final in 2019, making them serious contenders for a good result on home soil

Japan has confirmed its team of four as;

Yoshiaki Oiwa riding Tullyoran Cruise JRA (Reserve horse Calle 44)

Toshiyuki Tanaka riding Talma D’Allou (Reserve horse Swiper JRA)

Kazuma Tomoto riding Vinci De La Vigne JRA (Reserve horse Bernadette Utopia)

Reserve

Ryuzo Kitajima riding Feroza Nieuwmoed (Reserve horse Cekatinka JRA)

Substitute

Kenki Sato riding Shanaclough Contadora
