Mia Farley, just 23 years old and competing at her first CCI5* on a 5* rookie horse was impressive at the Mars Maryland at Fair Hill 2023.
Finishing in fifth place, Mia and the 10-year-old ex-racehorse Phelps, owned by David O’Connor, was the only combination to jump double clear around the challenging Ian Stark cross country course. On Sunday, they left the ring with eight jumping penalties but enjoyed an amazing weekend overall; this video follows Mia and Phelps on that journey through the event.
We caught up with some of the riders at the 2023 Les Etoiles de Pau CCI5* after cross country to find out how their rides had gone around Pierre Michelet’s beefed up course.
“It’s Pau on the extreme for sure” said Tom McEwen and other riders such as Ros Canter, Piggy March, Pippa Funnell, Boyd Martin, Kirsty Chabert and Gaspard Maksud tell their stories from throughout the day of CCI5* cross country in south-west France.
We caught up with some of the riders at the 2023 Les Etoiles de Pau CCI5* after they have completed dressage to find out their thoughts on their tests, their horses and the coming cross country course.
And we heard some great, and some emotional stories from riders such as Tom McEwen (dressage leader), Ros Canter, Jesse Campbell, Tim Price, Piggy March, Jonelle Price and Nadja Minder.
