By the time the Bramham stable yard clock struck 4pm on Wednesday afternoon, a sizeable crowd had gathered in front of the house to watch the First Horse Inspection of Bramham International Horse Trials

Leaning and sitting on the walls or sitting on folding chairs, they were treated to almost perfect conditions of breezy sunshine with a side of some gorgeous horses to admire. 63 horses from eight nations were presented to the CCI4*L Ground Jury in front of Bramham House this afternoon, and 62 will go forward to the dressage phase starting on Thursday morning.

Sadly, Sylvain Davesne’s Atout Couer Theod for France was sent to the holding box and subsequently not accepted upon representation.

21 horses representing Great Britain, France and the USA came before the Ground Jury for the CCI4*L Under 25 Championship and all horses were accepted. Xanthe Goldsack’s Hi Tech was trotted up on her behalf by her trainer as she was taking an exam (Xanthe manages to fit in studying Genetics at University as well as competing at 4* level), but luckily after being sent to the holding box the 13-year-old gelding was accepted upon re-presentation.

Dressage for the CCI4* L starts with the test ride at 9:10am on Thursday and competition proper at 9:30am. Susie Berry, who won the Hi-ho award for Best Dressed Lady at the Trot Up, will be the first to go on Monbeg By Design while Christopher Whittle was deemed the Best Dressed man.

The CCI4*L Under 25 division riders do their dressage on Thursday and Friday afternoons, starting at 2:52pm with Heidi Coy, the only two horse rider in that section, and Russal Z.
