“We are back! Let the countdown to Badminton commence” says Ros Canter as she shared footage on social media of her jumping a rather fresh horse.

The 2025 Badminton Horse Trials champion, who also won Defender Burghley 2025 on the same horse, Lordships Graffalo, welcomed her second baby in January but had always said that she hoped to be fit and ready for the new season and to defend her Badminton title.

Ros declined the opportunity to be part of the British team at the 2025 FEI European Championships at Blenheim Palace due to her pregnancy, but she will no doubt be hoping to be part of the British team for this year’s FEI World Championships in Aachen. Despite missing the end of the 2025 season, Ros finished the year as the top earning eventing rider thanks to her two big CCI5* wins.

At this stage it looks as if Ros will be sitting out her regular early season start at Oasby (1) Horse Trials but has three horses entered at her very local event at Lincolnshire Horse Trials (20th – 22nd March) with Lordships Graffalo getting a run in the Open Intermediate and Armscote Explorer and Broadstone Lion Man competing in the Open Novice.

Ros’ top three horses, Lordships Graffalo, Izilot DHI and MHS Seventeen are also entered for the Eventing Spring Carnival at Thoresby Park (2nd – 5th April) with Lordships Graffalo in the CCI4* while Izilot DHI and MHS Seventeen will contest the Open Intermediate.

We’ll be filming at all three events and will be keenly watching Ros and her horses, along with the many top competitors for the start of this season. Stay tuned for our reports and cross country videos ….
